Elopement at Yosemite Part I

Elopement in Yosemite, just saying it sounds like a dream.

Taking pictures of a couple in national parks is my ultimate goal in my wedding photography career. Last year, I was lucky to have a few destination weddings. It was so fun but I was also very exhausted. Being a destination wedding is not definitely a full time job for me. I love to have a few destination wedding. That would be good enough.

NO ONE has hired me to take pictures of them in a national park.

SO, I asked my friends to go with me so I can get pictures. AND HOPEFULLY, someone will hire me when they see this work. haha

There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.

I have been doing research about elopement in Yosemite National Park a lot recently. This webpage from Athen and Carman is darn good. They provide locations and detail very well.

How to Elope in Yosemite

As a result, I text Mona. “Let’s go to Yosemite and get pictures of you and Dhruv.”

“YAYYYY, okay”

So, the adventure begins.

Here is the plan. We need plan so we won’t wasting doing go to place we do not need to go.

  1. Tunnel View

  2. Valley View

  3. El Capitan Meadow

  4. Taft Point

  5. Glacier Point

My Gear

I try to carry less since I will have to carry all my gear with me during hiking and traveling. So, here is my gear.

  1. Canon 5D mark III

  2. Canon 16-35 f/2.8 II Lens

  3. Sigma 85 f/1.4 Lens

  4. Profoto A1 + Profoto Air Remote

Tunnel View

Tunnel View is the most popular spot of Yosemite National Park. Why? Because almost every one who comes to this park has to drive pass this spot. This spot is also good for Sunrise. Therefore, I got a few pictures and then move on to another spot.

Valley View

Valley View is also beautiful with the reflection and mountain behind it. However, I don’t feel anything special about it.

El Capitan Meadow

Taft Point

Glacier Point

El Capitan Meadow

The couple and I are totally tired and exhausted from all day of scouting and taking pictures. However, I can’t resist not to get out and photograph astrophotography pictures. So, poor Dhruv, he drove me to El Capitan Meadow and Valley View for me.

I end up go to bed almost midnight and I decided to skip Sunrise photo since the weather will be overcast. So, we have a few more hour to sleep.

Tomorrow will be a photo shoot day. Mona will wear her wedding dress for photo shoot. We decided to go Glacier Point in the morning and then El Capitan Meadow after.
