Elopement at Yosemite Part II
Sunday 7:00 AM
It’s a show time. The weather is forecast, so I won’t be able to see Sunrise anyway.
Here is the plan for today.
Get a few pictures at Tunnel View with the outfit number 1.
Get a lot of pictures of the bride with Half Dome at Glacier Point with the second outfit.
Come back to El Capitan Meadow with tall grass and finish the photo shoot.
Alright, let’s head out. I decided to go Tunnel View first.
Tunnel View is the first stop. We got there very early and there is not many people. Therefore, I try to get some shots from Tunnel View.
I couldn’t get a picture that I really like. Mona is beautiful and especially with her dress. I just can’t get it right and I do not want to wasting time too long on this spot.
Let’s go to Glacier Point.
I decided to move on.
It’s about an hour from Tunnel View to Glacier Point. Dhruv was very tired from driving us all day yesterday. Therefore, I was the driver during the photo shoot in the morning, so Dhruv could get a few more hours of sleep.
Mona changed to another dress. The pink is probably my favorite dress on this shoot so far since it’s very colorful. I didn’t have a light stand with me. Therefore, Dhruv was the human light stand holding Profoto A1.
Let’s talk about Profoto A1 a little bit. I was hesitating to bring Profoto A1 since it’s not very powerful, 75 Watts. I chose Profoto B2, 250 Watts, with a beauty dish at first. However, when I thought about weight and convenient between A1 and B2. I chose B2.
Profoto A1 is good and light. I’m very happy with my decision though. Since I most likely to use light to open the face area of the model. I only need to move Profoto A1 closer to the model so it won’t lose the power.
I love this picture of Mona with her beautiful Saree, the indian dress. I shot this picture with Canon 16-35 mm lens and has Dhruv held Profoto A1 on the right to open Mona’s face. Half Dome is on the right as a background and Saree is flowing on the left creating fore ground. I love creating this prospecting combining foreground and background to create 3D effect.
For these two pictures above, I hid Profoto A1 beside the rock and tree. I use Profoto Air Remote. I want Mona to be outstanding with the background of Yosemite. Therefore, I decided to use f/5.6 and higher to get deep depth of field.
El Capitan Meadow
El Capitan Meadow is the last spot on this set. Yellow tall grass with beautiful lady is just too perfect to skip.
I also photographed Mona and Dhruv with a film camera, Canon AE-1 and Kodak Tri-X 400.
This is a project for Darkroom I final project. Photographing with film is very exciting since I would never know how the pictures turn out until I develop them. I spent roughly 15 hours to develop all of these and producing 6 pictures.
